Guy Fawkes & The Gun Powder Plot

This game is a story-driven indie game about English Thanksgiving/Guy Fawkes Day/Bonfire Night.

The character sprites were made with 8D Character generator. The software is great and available on Steam and Itch.

When King James I ascended to the throne, there was a hopeful aura among the Catholic people of the UK. They hoped that, as the Stuart dynasty was traditionally Catholic, the country would return to the old ways of Catholicism. Additionally, a peace settlement and stronger ties with Spain were made. Compounded further by the fact that in his first year of reign, he did not enforce the laws Elizabeth had made to a significant degree, creating a hopeful and rejoicing Catholic community. They believed it was the start of a return to Catholic England. They were wrong. One year after he became ruler, he clamped down on the Catholics, used Elizabeth's laws, and developed further suppression. He was a Presbyterian. He was a Puritan interested in the witch trials. He was interested in promoting his Puritan agenda and enforcing further control over the hearts and minds of England and Scotland.

And this meant that some conspirators sought to remove him.
